Pure power – Markus fighting with the beginning of SuperHadduk.

This weekend we went to the Palatinate bouldering the first time this year. The weather in Karlsruhe was still very cold and rainy, but the motivation was high. After resting in the winter, we started training again in the last weeks and we wanted to test our fitness outside. Although it rained a little bit during the night, we risked it to drive to the Palatinum to a boulder spot near Annweiler. Surprisingly the overhanging sandstone was completely dry. Not even the icicle hanging from the rocks could lower our motivation and with some sun in the afternoon, it was perfect.

After doing some 6a traverses and a 7a dyno for warm up, we tried some of the boulder problems there. One of the best boulders there is SuperZadduk (7c+), ZaddukSit (7b+) and SuperSau (7b+/c).
I topped ZaddukSit and SuperSau (which has a dynamic move to a super sharp hold that cuts your skin, if you can’t stick it – so better hold it). I struggled to do SuperZadduk and was too tired in the end, nevertheless it was a nice day. And next time we are there for bouldering, I will try it again for sure.
