How do you prepare for the incoming rock climbing season? Besides training, one of the most important things for me is to estimate some projects that I want to climb over the year. That keeps my motivation high and helps me to adjust the training. The cold winter days were perfect to check out some new exciting projects …

Together with Lulu and Paul, we spent the day in the snowy valley of the Kronthal in the Vosges. Paul and I selected „Theatre du Nô“ (8b+): a very steep route starting with a difficult dynamic move followed by a row of tricky dead point moves. Personally, I find this route very challenging, nevertheless, it is amazing to climb. The single moves afford a lot of skills and are hard to compensate by pure power. This is one route I definitely want to climb in 2018 …

Lulu was one step further: she wanted to climb „De la terre á la une“ (8a). It’s one of the long lines in the central sector of the Kronthal and really nice to climb. After struggling with the crux sequence in her first go, she did it in the next one with ease (even though the wet holds at the ending made it extra exciting 🙂 ) – well done.

At the end of the day, I am looking forward to the warm spring days to come back and hope to send „Theatre du Nô“ one day.
